Hot Chocolate Mix
- 2 ½ c. powdered milk
- 2 1/4 c. powdered sugar
- 1 c. cocoa~~the darker the better~~
- 1 tsp. salt
- dash cayenne pepper~~optional~~
Sift all but the milk into a large container. Add powdered milk. Shake to combine. Can be easily doubled, tripled. We generally quadruple it.
To make a 12 oz. mug, use a heaping 1/3 c. and hot water.
Marshmallows are also helpful in the drinking of said product.
I’ll be whipping this up sometime soon. The Penzey’s hot chocolate has cinnamon in their mix….barely a hint. Just FYI b/c I know you like to know these things. 🙂
Printing this off today for two reasons:
1. I don’t know where my copy is from last year.
2. Licking the picture of the hot chocolate earlier didn’t help any.
I don’t think the dash cayenne pepper should be optional. 😀
I just made a batch using Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa and tested it (with a full mug, of course 😉 ).
You so totally RAWK!!! 8)
I told ya!!! **big cheezy grin**
I am getting ready to make this. I don’t have dark chocolate. 😦 Oh well, it will still be tastey. I have a question. What is salk? LOL
It doesn’t have to be dark chocolate…but when I purchase cocoa in bulk, I get the darker stuff.
Salk is a special kind of typo that only I am allowed to type.
PS. We are camping out in the backyard tonight, so this will come in handy. I also bought some marshmallows. WooHoo…we are set now!
I made the mix last night and had some on the way to church. I had to share it with the daughters. 😦 I made each of them a cup when we got home and they wouldn’t share. 😦
Anyhoo, I like it better with the dark chocolate. 😀
So, make you some more.
Ooohh!!! I don’t have all the ingredients. I guess I will have to stop at the store tomorrow:)
Well, I have to admit that I’ve never heard of adding the cayenne pepper to hot chocolate. So, since noone else is asking, I’ll be brave. 😆 Why, oh, why the pepper?
Have a super Saturday! 🙂
The pepper enhances the flavor of the chocolate. You don’t want much. Just a pinch for the entire recipe. You don’t want your drinkers to breath fire. It is optional, and truthfully, I generally opt out.
This sounds like a perfect holiday gift. Tied up all neat with a pretty little bow. Love it!!!
It is March 4th.
It is below 50 degrees.
I live in Florida.
I have to make this Hot Chocolate because I am cold.
This so wrong!
But at least you have something to warm you up!
