January 6

It seems, Internet, that I unknowingly set a president.

One that I didn’t fulfill yesterday and for that I am so very sorry.

You see, the Mother got on my blog yesterday expecting to see all manner of pictures of herself from baby to now, and I failed her.

And the girl would say “Epic Fail, Mom!” and then roll her eyes.

For some reason the eye roll seems to carry weight.

I could be a snot and scan all manner of pictures I have of the Mother that she would not appreciate being viewed…he he he…but I’ll save that for next year.

I other news, if you follow me on Facebook this will be old news…just skip ahead, the motor in Superman’s car has blown up.

It blew up on the same day someone broke into it.

Now we are once again looking for a new car.

This will be the 4th vehicle that we have purchased in about the last 12 months.

I am very tired of shopping for vehicles, however…I am a pro!

Look out used car salesmen, I will get the best price!

Willie Cindy Jim and Sandy 1959

62 wonderful years ago, my Grandma gave birth to my mother. (She is the one in the back in the striped shirt)

Happy Birthday Ma!

I hope you have a fabulous day!

In other news, I was watching the Red Baron over the weekend and this sweater was on the screen most of the time.   I want to knit it.

Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for it???

sugar butter chocolate

As far back as I can remember, I have been one to try to find the most efficient way to do things.

If I can find a quicker, more gas efficient route to drive, that is the route I take.
dark cocoa

If I can find a way to take less steps to get somewhere I’ll go that particular way.

If I can find an easier way to make something I will.

And that is exactly what I do with a good bit of Dorie’s recipes.

Today’s was no exception.

Dorie loves to heat her chocolate up over a double boiler. I find that you can accomplish the same task by nuking it for 1 minute on high, stir, 30 more seconds…stir and voila…melted, non-burnt, non-separated chocolate.

Today’s recipe says to divide the dough in half, refrigerate, scoop, roll into balls, and bake.

The ladies, however, were having problems because the dough became brick like rather quickly.

I scooped them out first, refrigerated them and then baked them.

I didn’t even bother to roll them into wee balls.

And as you can see, they look just like they are supposed to.

It has been 3 years since the ladies and gentlemen at TWD have been doing their “thing”.

I have been doing it for 2+.

For the anniversary post, Laurie picked today’s recipe.  Midnight Crackles.   You’ll find it at our TWD blog.

Thank you Laurie for starting this.   I have met so many wonderful people though this fabulous blog, and I am so grateful for each and every one of you.

It is Monday Internets!

I’m nosy.

Do you have a vent hood or a microwave above your stove?

We have a microwave and last night I was fumbling around in the dark looking for the light button on it, when my hand came in contact with the underneath of the microwave.

My hand came back a sticky greasy mess.   It hasn’t been cleaned since last summer.

So, my question for you is how often do you clean your vent hood/underneath of your microwave?

Obviously my answer is once a year.
