April 18

It is Friday and I am nosy.

Today’s question is very important, but just a bit different. I need your ideas, opinions, and in general, tell me what to do.

Our next door neighbor is giving us this deck. What should we do with it? Where should we put it?

We could add it to our deck that is already out there, or put it out back and make a fire pit kind of thing, or we could add to the porch out front, orΒ  ???

Do you have any ideas?

Do you see any problems with my suggestions?

Do you like one more than the other?

Dad, will you come help???

  1. Get an above ground swimming pool and that could be the deck you put around it. πŸ™‚ Did that help??? πŸ™‚

That’s very nice of your neighbors to give that to you.

  2. Oh Wow what a nice gift. See I have weird ideas. here is what I would do. I would build on it and make it a gazebo type a think and stick it in my back yard and plant pretty flowers around it and have it be a place I could go to just sit and watch or think or reflect or spend time in prayer. Or to hide from the kids with a hose and then blast them. But, hey that is me. lol

I hope you find a use for it. And your dad hears your pleas for help πŸ˜†

  3. Heh heh . . . .love the plea for dad at the end!

I’m liking what Bobbie said. How large is your back yard? Definitely clear the CLUTTER off it first! Check for hound dogs underneath.

  4. I definitely say a fire pit. Something tells me Chip could make even a fire roasted marshmallow look gourmet!

  5. Oooo, put it out back and make a firepit thingie. Hang pretty flowers, herbs, and such around the edges. Put up tall hooks to hand canning jars with candles in it. You could have lots of fun with it. πŸ™‚

    Oh and paint it red.

  6. I’m with Mom and the chainsaw LOL

I would put lattice around the sides.

I don’t know what your back deck looks like, so can’t answer if you could attach it to that.

As for the fire pit – you really need to be able to sit around a fire – you won’t be able to on that deck.

I can see it fixed up and used someplace though. Add planter boxes around it and use as just somewhere to sit and read.

  7. I liked Bobbie’s ideas also. I would put it off you deck…maybe join it wear the steps come down and you would step onto it…I don’t know if that would work. I forget how your deck goes down in the back.

Nice gift…I’ve got a better idea. Send it home with Dad and I will put it off of our dinning room LOL

  8. My first thought was to torch it. but it looks like metal so I guess that’s out. Got a corner that has trees. Under some trees with places to sit in the afternoon in the shade would be nice.

  9. I agree with the firepit idea. Sitting around a fire and telling ghost stories is a fantastic bonding activity.

    I say fire pit!

  10. I like Bobbie’s idea too. :)I think a fire pit needs to be less deck-like and more ground level with bricks or something.

  11. I’ve got it! Put it on tall stilts at the end of the street, hire the Greatful Dead to perform on it, and have the biggest rock concert ever!…….No!??
Oh well, there’s always Gramps and his chain saw.

Hey there, cousin Jerry. I am so glad that you commented. I am thinking I will pass on the Grateful Dead…..I can not wait to hear what Dad has to say.

  12. I would need to be standing in your yard before having any idea as where to put it. If your current deck is sunny, I would put it in a shady place and vice-versa. I’ve been looking at firepits this week, so of course, I like that idea. πŸ˜‰
Would look good with lots of plants and a hammock, too.
Do you still have the lattice that goes with it? It is nice of your neighbors to gift you.

  13. I like the gazebo idea. Be nice to just sit and admire your son and his dad while they are taking care of the garden.I wish I had neighbors like you do. Nobody gives me nothing, but a hard time.

  14. I think I would go with the fire pit idea. I would love to have something like that in our backyard.

Hey kiddo. So glad you got some computer time.

  15. I think your cousin is onto something. Maybe if you can get AC/DC, that’d be really cool. I’d visit you and we could stand in the street screaming. LOL

I don’t know what you will end up doing with the deck, but I know you will think of something nice. That certainly is nice of them to give it to you. I hope you will post pictures of what you do with the deck. =)

    You know me so well…
