December 10

There is a box on my treadle. A gold box with gold ribbon and a gold bow.

The box is my Christmas present from the boy. He has put it there to torture me. He knows just how much I love presents. He knows just how much me seeing a box that I can not open will gnaw at me. He willingly put it there and now he is the one being tortured.

Poor guy wants to give it to me so badly, he can hardly stand it. There hasn’t been a day go by in the last week that it has been there, that he hasn’t said to me “I want to give you your gift.” It is said with a excitedly pained expression, and I am having more fun watching him be tortured than seeing the box and me being tortured.

I love it. I love that he picked out the paper, I love that he wrapped it, I love that he had to make sure that the ribbon matched and that he is frustrated that the bow isn’t metallic.

What do you think is in it, coal or knitting supplies with a brick to throw me off?

  1. Wow! I have no idea what’s in the box, but it sure is pretty. He did a great job and you can tell he loves his mommy.

Maybe you should NEVER open it and ruin that beautifulness. *whistling*

  2. Your boy is too sweet making such a lovely present for his Mom. What a thoughtful guy. Can’t wait to hear what was inside.

  3. That is so sweet!

I won’t get to even see my presents until Christmas Day. Hubby keeps them hidden away….because I cannot keep from shaking the presents, picking them up, etc….

  4. If I know Dean, and as ornery as he is, I bet there is a brick or something heavy to through you off.

I just love Christmas gags! Way to go Dean!

  5. It’s beautiful! The whole thing, the thoughtfulness, the wrappings, the boy buying his momma a gift with his hard-earned money, the anticipation. πŸ™‚

  6. I love to shake!!!!! Dh knows to keep mine out from under the tree, now DH is under the tree and he could care less. Me, I am excited and can’t wait for him to see what he is getting. I like the wrapping in a bigger box, maybe next year. He did a great job on wrapping.

  7. I’m very proud of that young man going to such pains to buy his mama a fine gift. πŸ˜€

I love it that you are both being tortured. πŸ˜†

My family isn’t very good at not letting me know what I’m getting. Sometimes it’s because they just don’t take hints very well – I have to physically take them to the gift, stand them in front of it and say very clearly, “I’d like that for my birthday or Christmas!” or worse yet I have to buy my own gifts because they are completely clueless.

But I love them and everything that I get from them.
