October 27

Ree gave a Photoshop tutorial the other day, and I was absolutely ecstatic that it was one that I could do on my Photoshop Editor 5.0, which is just a wanna be of the real Photoshop ~~that I would really like to have, but don’t because, as my father says, I’m cheap.

Anyway, I wanted to show off what I did.

Here is my SOOC (straight out of camera) shot. Not bad for my el cheapo camera. I took this picture just so I could practice.

Isn’t she cute? You wouldn’t know from that smile that she had just eaten her fourtyeleventh can of tuna since August.

Then I cropped, and lopped and lightened and brightened and unsharped and enhanced and resized, and I made her eyes sparkle. Thanks Ree!!!

Voila. Much more better!

Now if I can just get rid of that nasty wall paper.

Do you have Photoshop or Editor or another photo editing program? Do you like it?

  1. Wow, I had no idea Photoshop was so expensive. Too much for me. I thought it cost around $100.00.

Yep…that is how much the Editor 5.0 was. I didn’t realize that there was a “real” Photoshop out there. Of course, I wouldn’t have purchased it anyway. Now, if I were going to be taking professional pictures, I would get it. There is sooooo much you can do with it…I am just gobsmacked! Every picture I look at now, you can tell that a lot of it has been photoshopped.

  2. I have photoshop LE (limited edition) that came with my scanner many years ago. I have used it to mess with my pictures and it is amazing what you can do. I also have Paintshop Pro and I can use it for more, like getting rid of red-eye, but I always go back to my photoshop, because it just seems easier to use…

  3. I don’t know anything about what you are talking about. My son takes care of all my camera pictures for me. I don’t know what I will do when he flies away from my nest. I am so computer illiterate. But I do have other good qualities. My how her eyes do sparkle. She really doesn’t need any touch up though!

  4. I’m just glad that you have found out how to lighten your pictures with the software. I think you were wanting to know how to do that a few weeks ago.

I have several programs for graphics, no favorites though. Whichever one works best for the task at hand is how I gauge their usefulness.

  5. I crop and resize with Microsoft Picture It – it’s el cheapo. I also have Jasc (another el cheapo) but I hardly ever use it because it’s too much of a hassle. When I do use it, I usually stop with the “clarify” option at a strength of 1, because every time I mess with the colors or the exposure levels I end up making it look all fakey. (I know it is me, not the program!) I find it’s easier to try take a good picture in the first place. (Easier said than done on my own el cheapo camera!)

One time I did use Jasc to white out a background (on a picture of a pancakes – I didn’t want my sink to show) but after that one time I got wise and started taking pictures against a piece of white posterboard instead! White posterboard is a blessing. Have one of your chips angle it so it reflects light onto the other chip’s face while you are taking a picture. It’ll look great. 🙂

I do wish I had Photoshop. I played with it at my mom’s office once, and I saw infinite possibilities if only I had the discipline to sit down and learn the program.

The sparkle eyes are cute – they look like anime. 🙂

  6. Nope, what you see on my blog is what came from the camera (with the exception of making the picture smaller for web pics-using the photobucket sizing feature). I want PSPro, but I’m too cheap to get it, too.

  7. I only have the programs that come with whatever other software I have. My pics are as taken. Which in a lot of cases is just old fashioned good luck. (I aspire to the photography school of point and click)

The pretty girl is pretty in both shots. Of course the lighting in the second one looks much clearer, so we can see the pretty girl much better.

  8. I have PhotoShop, parents gave it to me for Christmas last year. I wasn’t expecting what they got me, what I had asked for cost quite a bit less but Dad being dad went looking and found what he thought I should have (he didn’t look at the price) ordered it and mom scolded him! I got 2 programs in that package/bundle for Christmas and then a different program for my birthday.

    I love my mom & dad!! 😀
