October 2

Friday, the boy entered some sour dough into the fair. Alas, he did not win a ribbon.

I on the other hand have come away with one thought, and one thought only.

They need someone who knows all sorts of nuances of chocolate to judge baked goods at the fair.

Someone who has tasted it all, an aficionado, a proficient, a connoisseur, a love for all things sweet, decadent and chocolate.

Someone like me.

Anyone want to join me in a letter writing campaign?

  1. I would be happy to help you in this endeavor. Let me know where to send the letter.

That is one way you can get on the judging list. You could also get on that list by getting to know some of the judges or better get the people in charge of each division/department (every fair calls them different things). If you want to help with the judging of food items then you need to find out who is in charge of food and start getting to know them. Don’t forget to complement them on what’s going right before talking about anything that is going wrong, unless they bring it up.

    Good luck w/the chocolate. πŸ˜‰

Truthfully, you can not be a judge unless you have a degree in Home Economics

  2. Don’t all your years of homemaking count for a degree in Home Economics?I thought “decedent” meant someone who is deceased. Am I wrong?

  3. I am sorry that he didn’t place. That is too bad. I hope that he keeps trying, though. It is hard to believe, but the fair can be very political.

  4. I don’t think that having a degree in home ec necessarily qualifies a person to judge cooking. I can see the merits of having the degree but to make that a requirement seems like overkill. To me that is like saying to judge crochet or knitting you must be a professional designer.

Oh, well I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here. I think that you’d make a great judge of cooking. You are teaching your chocolate chips to cook and do a good job with what they make.
