September 25

Sunday we returned to our decorating class to decorate cupcakes.

Once we were there I realized that I had committed a grievous error. I had forgotten my camera. I am so ashamed of myself. So ashamed that I sat and sucked the icing out of all the tips and couplers. It wasn’t pretty.

When I got home, however, I took pictures of the lovelies that I decorated.

This is my clown. (we are going to pretend that I wasn’t lazy and didn’t want to put more icing in a bag to give him a base of icing to sit on)

This is the boy’s clown. He has an cloud of icing to sit on. His is better. I know it, and I am so ashamed. Pass the icing please.

They were just absolutely simple to make.

And so were these. We used these for the daughter’s birthday. She didn’t have any because she is allergic.

She had

a baked apple with pecans and cinnamon instead.

Next week, we will tackle something else. I don’t remember because I was to busy consoling myself with icing.

What is your favorite kind of cake?

  1. Those are really cute. Did your tongue turn blue or green when you ate the icing? It isn’t worth eating the icing if you can’t change the color of your insides a disgusting color. LOL

I like chocolate cake. I have to make one today for the daughter’s birthday. OR you could send a few of those cupcakes to me. πŸ˜€

Did you already have your cake equipment when you started this class? I need to purchase some and pretend I know what I am doing with them. If I can’t pretend, I’ll just console myself with the icing. Good tip, CC.

**I had about 95% of the supplies already. Consoling oneself with icing is the best way to go!

  2. Those look delish! You did a great job.

My favorite cake is strawberry with strawberry icing. My birthday is 4 days before Valentine’s day and my mom always made me a pink, strawberry cake decorated with red sprinkles. I miss those days *sniff* I keep telling her every year to make me one and send it in the mail, but she never has. Don’t know how well it would make it to SC from KS.

  3. I’m not a cake-eating person, but I love to make cakes. Chocolate. If I have to choose a dessert, it would be Purely Decadent’s Chocolate Obsession Ice Cream (soy). πŸ˜€

  4. What you have there would suit me just fine!! I love yellow cake with buttercream frosting. That is the perfect cake and when you put that with homemade vanilla ice cream – well, that is heaven on earth!!

  5. I’m not much of a cake person myself and to be honest, after admitting this I’ll probably never be allowed to post here ever again, I don’t care for chocolate cake. It just seems such a waist to me to make chocolate into something so dry (brownies are a different catagorie).

I like a good butter-yellow cake with a think peanut-butter-chocolate frosting layer over it. I’ve also become quite fond of poke cake w/a Cool Whip “frosting” – very light for those on a diet.

There are 2 chocolate type cakes that I do like: Coke Cake and German Chocolate but one is very expensive and the other I have to share because I can’t eat one alone and my family hates coconut.

  6. I love cake so much.
I love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
I love red cake with it’s delish frosting.
I love white cake with white frosting.
I love chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

    It’s my birthday on Thurs.

I better order myself a cake.

  7. I can’t eat cake, but right now I am perfecting one for our annual bake-off at church. It is a Carmel apple spice cake. It is a bundt style cake with spice cake, filled with dulce de leche, pecans, and chopped apples. It will be drizzled with a carmel sauce and topped with more pecans.

  8. I must confess.

    The clowns creep me out.

I am impressed with your skill, but your cupcakes give me the willies! πŸ˜† On the other hand, I would have loved the baked apple. YUM!

My favorite cake…cheesecake (does that count?), my “That Cake!” (Elaine, it’s not dry at all. πŸ˜‰ ), and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Mmmmmmm… πŸ˜€

  9. The cupcakes were soooooooooo cute. I am with Miz Booshay. Everything she mentioned are right up there on my list. I am not however, fond of chocolate cake. Don’t get me wrong, I will eat it if I have to,I am just not fond of it.
