August 18

A few weekends ago, the youth group went to Hocking Hills. Hocking Hills is about the only pretty part in our state.

He is having so much fun!!!

Anyone notice the stone wall that was hand built?

Told ya it was lovely!

They were supposed to go repelling, but the youth leader had forgotten that he chopped up his largest rope, so they bouldered instead.

He is definitely in his element here. His 2 favorite things, camping and cooking. Notice the duck tape on his boot?

I think I need a vacation now!

Do you enjoy camping, cooking or bouldering?

  1. I enjoy cooking. I used to enjoy camping very much when I was younger. Uncle Jim was never really into it ,so we never camped much.I remember going to Colorado with Grandpa when he would go deer hunting. That was fun. We went to Boulder,Colorado. Does that count as bouldering? If not, then bouldering is not my thing.

  2. First, I must disagree that that is about the only pretty place in the state. There are MANY!!! Secondly, those are some lovely pictures. The cooking looks really good! As for camping, I have enjoyed it in the past, but I can’t imagine me doing it now. I do love the great outdoors, though, and cooking. πŸ˜€

  3. It looks really beautiful there and the food looks great! I didn’t get to go anywhere this summer so I will probably make an extra effort to go somewhere next summer – or before??

  4. Noticed the wall. πŸ˜€
Noticed the duct tape, my hubby does the same thing – sometimes intentionally. πŸ™„

Food looks good, especially the biscuits. YUM

Very pretty area, good trails, I wouldn’t have been doing any repelling or bouldering.

Camping….If you mean w/a tent that you’ve carried on your back for 10+ miles to set up in the wilderness then I’ve done it but I’m done. If you mean going to a camp ground to set up camp and then hike around then sometimes I do enjoy this. I would love to learn to enjoy going RVing better though. Yes I love camp food and even making it sometimes.

  5. It is uncanny…that looks just like a place I hiked in, in the Drakensberg (berg = mountains) of South Africa. We spent the night sleeping in an area with an overhang like that. The food wasn’t as delish though…reconstituted veggies and ground beef/soy. It was yuck! Our hike leader tried to force me to eat it but I snuck it away when I was supposed to go to the toilet and tossed it! πŸ˜€

  6. I think it is beautiful! I never seem to be amazed at the beauty of God’s creation! I believe everywhere we look we can see his beauty whether it’s rocky or mountainous. Daddy loves the Rocky Mountains, but I find I love the beauty of the rolling tree covered hills as well as the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains or the Ozark Mountains. Two of my favorite places we have lived has been the Ozark Mountains and where we are now in Northeast Ohio at the Appalachian foothills. The pictures are calling me for a visit!
