April 25th

Where has this year gone? Do you realize that we are 5 days away from a quarter of the year being GONE???

Well, yesterday I told you I had to knit something pink or I would go insane. Well, after working for 2 ½ hours~~½ of that was spent unknitting and trying to figure out a pattern~~I have this much done.

I am not a fast knitter, but in my defense, the daughter asked me to sit in the kitchen with her while she made potato salad,~~Aunt Cindy’s of course~~ the husband was chatting with me, and then I screwed up the pattern BIG TIME!!! There is about an inch and a half there……..and you know what is best of all???? It has pink in it!!!  It is so delightful to knit with these colors…soothing on the eyes.

In other news….do I have other news?  No…..I am a boring person.  Boring people don’t have news.

I did have a wonderful talk with my son tonight, and he told me that he thought that I raised him just exactly how all kids should be raised, and that he stores little things in his head so that he can do it with his kids, and that he hopes that he is able to raise his children as good as I raised him. cry_big_red.gif  I tell you that was music to my ears!!!  It TOTALLY made my day…..week………year……..life!!!

I ate a blueberry muffin this morning…..Jiffy mix.  Jiffy mix are my favorite kind of muffins.  I remember going over to my Aunt Cindy’s house when I was a little girl, and she would fix hot dogs and Jiffy corn bread muffins.  I always thought that was THE greatest food.  Such a treat for me!!!  Now she makes the best peanut butter fudge and potato salad.

What is your favorite muffin?

  1. Oh mannnnnnn! Time flies!!! Where did April go, it was cold, I think we were cheated and had two Februaries this year! 😉

Your son expressed a wonderful opinion of you today. You should write his words on a bookmark and keep it in your Bible (or something like that, I get mushy over stuff like this).

{hugs} and you are NOT boring!

I used to like lemon poppy seed muffins. I like how the seeds pop when they are bitten and I like lemon, so that is the story. 😀

  2. That is such a sweet thing from your Son. I hope my girls say that to me someday.

My favorite muffins are chocolate choc chip but I have never made them. I used to eat them in high school when I could.

The sock yarn is pretty, btw! I like the way the ribbing looks.

  3. Mmmmm, potato salad. I must have missed the recipe in your recipe section. Hint Hint.

And Tanya, you are so not boring. You are such a wonderful person who is so full of life. I enjoy talking to you on the phone.

That was very sweet of Dean to say that to you. Sometimes Sam will walk up to me and say “Oh mama, I love you”, granted we say this often in our family, but this is always different. As a matter of fact she says it a lot when I am acting stupid. Hey, if that’s the case she should be saying it all the time.

  4. Nice to see some cheerful knitting going on.

Your son is a sweet heart. Yes do write it down somewhere. Its one thing when they say these sweet things at 3 but when they are on the break of manhood! Well!!

I like muffins with a ton of different fruits in it. I make a lot of muffins but rarely eat them.

  5. I HOPE THAT WHEN DEAN FINDS THE RIGHT GIRL TO MARRY AND IF SHE PASSES “THE MOMMY TEST”….(WE KNOW THAT THERE ISN’T ANYONE GOOD ENOUGH FOR OUR KIDS)….THAT HE WILL REALIZE THAT EACH ONE OF HIS CHILDREN ARE DIFFERENT AND WILL NEED TO BE RAISED DIFFERENTLY JUST AS WE HAD TO RAISE YOU AND YOUR SISTER DIFFERENTLY.
WE ARE VERY PROUD OF ALL OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN AND THE WAY THEY WERE ALL RAISED AND WERE AND NEVER ASHAMED TO TAKE THEM ANYWHERE.

  6. I can’t believe this year has gone by so quickly. My kids brought home their lunch menu and I realized it was the last one for the year. My kids are almost 3rd graders now (mother crying….)

My favorite muffins would be chocolate chip banana nut with cinnamon. Unique mixture, I know, but they are good. They are also good if you add peanut butter.

My second favorite would be blueberry cream cheese with crumb topping, loaded with melted butter.

  7. I like banana nut muffins. I am so glad to hear you talk about things you did when you were a young girl at my house. You were always so special to me. (as is your precious sister).
It does warm the cockles of our hearts when our children say special things like what Dean said to yo.

  8. Aaaawww, I got misty eyed! What a wonderful young man. A son who says things like that speaks very highly of him, AND his raising! He will make a good husband someday, and treat his wife right! My dd says to me, “I’m going to homeschool *my* kids someday!” That makes my heart smile. 🙂 I pray she will keep that attitude.
