So! The Olympics.
A few thoughts.
* The Mexicans know how to dive.
* I can almost not stand to watch the diving events because I’m afraid the divers are going to hit their heads on platform.
* The designers for the mens diving “swim trunks” need to get a better budget. I mean they must not have had much money to buy enough material for them.
* Please Olympic televisers, I don’t want to see the commentary, the interviews, etc. Just show me the competition.
* Lastly, I just wonder how much sand they dumped into that stadium for beach volleyball. Which makes me ask…why didn’t they just have it on the beach???
My mother didn’t pass the creative gene on to me…Oh nooooOOOooooo…Sister got it.
I have always envied Mother and Sister, and now the Girl because they are just. so. creative.
Sure, sure I can knit. There are directions.
Sure, sure I can cook. There are directions.
I follow directions. That is what I do.
That is why when some friends of mine
got together twittered together and suggested a great Nailed it or Failed it Pinterest Challenge.
Brilliant. Actually DOING something from Pinterest.
Then it was proposed that someone else picked out our project.
Not a problem….I thought.
They all know I’m good at baking…I thought.
twits friends picked out flip flops. I knew I could do that because it looked easy.
But when I investigated, there were no instructions.
So! By looking at the pictures I’m supposed to start out with a plain pair of flip flops and material.
First cut out strips of fabric. But how wide of strip? How long of strip??? Direction followers need to know!!
So, I guestimated… 2½ inches wide by however long you want.
Then your supposed to take off the top from the bottom of the shoe.
Insert 2 strips of fabric into the toe hole.
Then you are to tie knots underneath and above, and more knots and fit it to your foot.
And voila, a new pair of flip flops. It takes all of 10 minutes for everything. That is my kind of project minus the whole lack of direction.
The girl is in love with her new flip-flops, I am quite sure I nailed it!
We all did fun stuff.
There is a cleaning the toilet with a magic eraser, and organ pancakes, Krispy Kream donuts, quilling, diaper cakes and decoupage.
Go check them out.
Thanks Deb for the linkies, and Kristy for making them CC useable.
Seriously, July 11?
Good googlie mooglie the year is more than half gone.
What have I done with the first half of my year?
*I started knitting. Most of the first sock is finished. Mostly.
*I have been playing with the girl’s new kitten. Right now, animals outnumber the humans 4 to 3.
* I have been reading. A lot.
My choice of genre? Smut, but I did draw the line at 50 Shades of Grey because that is just a little over the top and I’m not into S&M.
Right now I’m reading the Hunger Games.
I started reading them 3 days ago.
I’m on the third book.
Why? Well, amidst the horrific weather that knocked out power from here to Yonkers and subsequent return of that blessed electricity, my Sweet Neighbor Lady lost her internet. For 2 weeks.
It matters because I
hack steal borrow piggy back on her wifi to upload smut books to my Kindle. When you are out of electric there is only so much you can do. It is to hot to knit, because it is only 100º and no AC. Sidebar~~I heart my air conditioner~~so you spend your time laying on the floor smack dab in front of a fan set on gale force wind (bless you generator) reading everything in your Kindle, but because you only had half of one book left on your Kindle there is nothing to do in a matter of an hour but lay in front of said fan and stair at the ceiling. After 3 sweat filled days of nothingness the electricity is back.
Unfortunately SNL has been out of internet since then. ~~why yes I did try to manually upload books to my Kindle ~~why yes, I’m mostly a computer novice.
SNL has lent me movie after movie, but a person can only watch. so. much.
Hence the books.
Her Internet returned yesterday, hallelujah, but sweet mercy! I’m stuck in Panem.
