Happy Birthday
Saturday,January 5, 2008
Once upon a time, in 1949 (59 years ago~~I thought I’d do the math for you), a little girl was born in Springfield, Ohio.
(1959)
She had 2 sisters, and one brother. She had a happy and uneventful childhood. Then one day, she met him.
(1967)
(1967)
After she graduated high school,
(1968)
she had her picture put in the paper announcing her engagement.
(1968)
They were married, and
(1969)
soon she realized that she was going to have a baby.
(1973)
A most beautiful baby, who was the light of her life, the joy of her being, the epitome of all things good in her world, her reason for living, and could cry huge crocodile tears to get all sorts of chocolate.
(1972)
2 years later, she would give this wonderful child a sister, give cookies for Christmas gifts,
(1974)
wear polka doted dresses, and iron her husband’s plaid pants.
(?)
She also let everyone grow their hair long.
(1981)
In 1981, her husband blessed her with a Polaroid camera, and the most beautiful girl, who was the light of her life, the joy of her being, the epitome of all things good in her world, her reason for living, had begun to drive her a bit nutty.
(1984)
They moved to Texas so that an education could be obtained for her husband. She liked to get away from it all with her older sister in Galveston, and eat crackers.
(1986)
Her girls began to grow up,
(1988)
so she liked to take them outside to have their pictures taken.
As she got older, she began to realize the need to dress up.
(?)
So, she made her husband take her to fancy parties,
(?)
sweetheart dinners,
(1989)
and weddings to show off her fancy dresses, and eat crackers.

Her daughters grew up and began begetting children of their own, turning her heart into a marshmallow.

Chips go well with marshmallows.
(1998)
So do twins.
(2007)
She now takes care of her mother and her man, and is busy laughing and loving us all.
Happy Birthday Ma!

What a nice gesture! I’m amazed you have all those photos. One would have thought they would be lost over time. Guess not.
Very nice blog (and the first one I’m reading!)
I had dad scan them and email them to me. Photoshop did a wonderful job of fixing many of them.

Wow!!! What a great blog!!! Your mother was and still is beautiful. She looked so much like our cousin, Rhonda, when she was younger. You did a great job on the story line. It’s hard to believe we were ever that young…..

Happy Birthday to the woman who gave us Chocolatechic!
This is a nice photo journey of your Mom’s life, CC. You are such a sweetheart!
What about that mark on the stone in the 1988 photograph? I have seen similar marks on stones in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
It is a number 8. I can not recall what it was for, but there are several rocks there that have names carved in them.

Happy Birthday CC’s Mom!
What a cool post. It’s a wonderful bit of family history.
And imagine my amazement to see the mention of Springfield, OH. I’m from Fairborn, OH, and we lived in Springfield when my twins were born. Small world!
